Chain unveils new shell nationwide

(NEWSER) - Americans everywhere can now buy a Taco Bell taco whose shell is made out of Doritos , notes the AP , and a $75 million advertising campaign means the pitch will be hard to avoid. Judging by early reaction, this is either everything that's right or wrong with the nation:

Jennifer Lynn Betterly wasn't pleased with the speed at a KFC/Taco Bell

(NEWSER) - It's called fast food, people. Or so may have gone the thought process of one Jennifer Lynn Betterly, a Florida woman who had just about enough of waiting in line at the KFC/Taco Bell drive-thru in Largo on Saturday night. And so she did what any hungry diner would do ... repeatedly drove her Ford Focus into the slow-poke car in front of her, screaming at its driver as she did so. She then split (tragically, sans food), but was arrested an hour later and charged with fun things like aggravated battery, driving with a suspended license, and leaving the scene of a crash, reports the Tampa Bay Times . Get ready for sausage wraps, breakfast burritos

(NEWSER) - Can't wait until lunch for that burrito? Taco Bell's got your back: The fast-food chain is joining competitors in offering breakfast. The launch began today in 800 of its 5,600 restaurants, largely in the western US; if it's a success, the company hopes to take the morning menu nationwide by 2014. Among the options, priced from 99 cents to $2.79: breakfast burritos with eggs and meat, sausage and egg wraps, coffee, and orange juice. More»

Weird menu addition already made its debut in California

(NEWSER) - If you just can't decide what's better—a Taco Bell taco or a bag of Doritos—now you don't have to. The fast food chain is rolling out its Doritos Locos Tacos in stores around the country, the Huffington Post reports. The tacos, which have a Nacho Cheese Dorito-flavored shell, were introduced in California's San Joaquin Valley earlier this year, and were apparently successful enough to merit a nationwide menu addition. Fast food chain rolls out new spuds Monday

(NEWSER) - The big fight among fast food chains is over who has the best fries—and in an effort to increase its standing, Burger King has changed its recipe for the first time since 1998. The new fries will be thicker (just a tad wider than a No. 2 pencil), have 20% less sodium, and will be crisper and stay hotter longer thanks to a new coating.
