(NEWSER) - This Is Spinal Tap actor Michael McKean was seriously injured yesterday when he was struck by a car on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The vehicle barreled into him as he was crossing the street, according to witnesses. “He’ll be OK, hopefully he’ll be fine,” said a spokeswoman. "It's pretty devastating." McKean, 62, broke his leg in the accident and suffered cuts and abrasions to his head. McKean's wife, actress Annette O’Toole, was flying from Los Angeles to be with her husband. Michael Sanchez was found unconscious just yards from crash site

(NEWSER) - A San Jose man is fighting for his life in a hospital after spending a week without food or water in a thicket close to where his pickup crashed. Police following up a missing persons report found Michael Sanchez, 25, lying unconscious just yards from where his vehicle veered off the highway and rolled over. The California Highway Patrol says a witness reported seeing a man climb out of the truck and walk away after the crash. A thorough search of the area was carried out immediately, but no one was found. More»

Officials will step up warnings for international students

(NEWSER) - Three Boston University students studying in New Zealand were killed on Saturday when the minivan they were driving in careened off a road and crashed. Officials of the New Zealand university hosting the Boston visitors said they strongly discourage such students from driving because of their unfamiliarity with driving along the left side of the road; the school intends to strengthen those warnings in the future. "It's plainly riskier than other forms of travel," said the director of Auckland University's international office. "The students, of course, are anxious to get out and see as much of the country as possible." More»

3 Boston U Students Die in New Zealand Crash

(AP) - Three Boston University students who were studying in New Zealand were killed today when their minivan crashed. At least five other students from the university were injured in the accident, including one who was in critical condition. The students were traveling in a minivan about 7:30am near the North Island vacation town of Taupo when the vehicle drifted to the side of the road and then rolled when the driver tried to correct course, police said.
