(NEWSER) - Facing growing controversy over teachers contacting students online, New York City is taking matters into its own hands: The city has created its first set of rules regarding how teachers should operate on Facebook and beyond. (NEWSER) - A New York auction house sold off a dinosaur skeleton for $1 million yesterday despite a restraining order from the Mongolian government, which said the find had been illegally exported, New Scientist reports. Heritage Auctions kept mum about the seller and winning bidder, and said it had "legal assurances" that the near-complete tyrannosaurus "was obtained legally." A lawyer for Mongolia, however, said the auction house planned to hold back the sale until courts settled the dispute. More»

(NEWSER) - New York has long been home to some of the most expensive apartments in the world. But now the city that never sleeps is getting a new icon of excess—a $1 million parking spot, reports the New York Post . Buying it would be the same as paying a $115 ticket for illegal parking every day for 24 years, notes the paper. The 12-by-23-foot spot is located on East 11th Street inside a former eight-story parking garage, which was bought for $120 million and is now being turned into six luxury condos with inside parking.
