(NEWSER) - The geniuses who wrote Texas’ gay marriage ban may have accidentally banned all marriage in the state, according to one Houston lawyer. Subsection B of the ban, a constitutional amendment ratified in 2005, states, “This state…may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.” The intent was to prevent even civil unions for gay couples—but it doesn’t actually specify the “gay” part. Gay Texas Judge Refuses to Marry Straight Couples

No marriages until all can marry, says Tonya Parker

(NEWSER) - Dallas judge Tonya Parker says she won't be conducting any marriage ceremonies until she and every other gay person in Texas have the same right to marry. When she turns straight couples away, Parker tells them: "I’m sorry. I don’t perform marriage ceremonies because we are in a state that does not have marriage equality, and until it does, I am not going to partially apply the law to one group of people that doesn’t apply to another group of people." Argentina Sees Its 1st Gay Divorce

Cheating reportedly the cause of the female couple's split

(NEWSER) - With one milestone comes another: Argentina legalized gay marriage in July 2010; 11 months later, it's seeing its first gay divorce. A LGBT groups says the divorce involves a female couple who married on April 20. The 46-year-old and 25-year-old are splitting due to an alleged infidelity, says the group's president.
