(NEWSER) - Britain's Supreme Court has upheld the extradition of Julian Assange to Sweden to answer accusations of rape and sexual assault by two WikiLeaks volunteers. The British court rejected in a 5-2 vote Assange's claim that a European arrest warrant seeking his extradition was invalid because it was issued by a prosecutor, not a judge or a court as required in Britain. Assange can still appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights. If the court agrees to hear his case within 14 days, he can file for an injunction to suspend the extradition process, reports MSNBC . More»

Charges of rape and sexual coercion, stemming from alleged incidents last August, await the WikiLeaks founder in Sweden. "There can be no doubt that if what Mr. Assange had done had been done in England and Wales, he would have been charged," read the ruling, rejecting Assange's claim that his actions would not have been considered criminal in the UK. (NEWSER) - Julian Assange isn't exactly keeping a low profile now that he's out of prison. In an interview with Matt Lauer this morning on Today, the WikiLeaks founder called rape allegations against him “incredible” but “a very successful smear campaign so far,” reports Mediaite . Asked about a US espionage investigation and allegations that he provided Pfc.
