      (Newser) - Andruw Jones, Jeff Kent and Gary Bennett homered during a six-run seventh inning, leading Chad Billingsley and the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 yesterday. After Jones and Kent hit solo shots, Bennett capped the burst with a three-run homer. Billingsley (3-5) didn't allow a hit until Brewers starter Ben Sheets, a career .078 hitter, singled with two outs in the fifth. More »

Just hours after coming back from the minors, James allowed one run in five innings and the Atlanta bullpen shut down the Dodgers, leading the Braves past Los Angeles 4-1 today for their third straight victory.       (Newser) - Free-agent outfielder Andruw Jones agreed to a two-year, $36.2 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday, the AP reports. The 10-time Gold Glove winner and five-time All-Star hit .222 last season but is being counted on to give Los Angeles a reliable slugger in the middle of the lineup and an upgrade defensively in centerfield.       (Newser) - Andruw Jones’ won’t play for the Braves next season, after Atlanta GM John Schuerholz said the club won't bid for the center fielder's services now that he's a free agent, because of the high salary demands of Jones’ agent, Scott Boras.
