Rookie Carl Landry added 14 points and seven rebounds, and reserve guard Bobby Jackson had 13 points as the Rockets won easily, despite playing without defensive specialist Shane Battier.

Randy Foye had a game-high 25 points and Rashad McCants added 19 to lead the Timberwolves, who snapped a six-game losing streak. The Magic have lost six of their last 10 games.

Vince Carter had 21 points and Devin Harris added 19 for the Nets, who last missed the playoffs in the 2001 season. Philadelphia's loss to Indiana moved Toronto into sixth place in the East with three games remaining.

The victory moved the Lakers (54-25) within 1 1/2 games of the Western Conference-leading New Orleans Hornets entering Friday night's showdown between the teams. The Hornets play three of their last four games on the road while the Lakers finish with three at home.

Dallas got in on the combination of the victory and Golden State losing to Denver. With three games left, the Mavericks have a two-game edge on the Nuggets for the No. 7 seed.
