In 2 months of studio work, the Aussie rock icons churned out 15 new songs (including four with the word “rock” in the title) and plan a massive world tour beginning in October. More »

Green Bands Can't Stop Fans From Polluting

(Newser) - It's not easy being a green band. While touring musicians try to cut their carbon footprints with biodiesel buses and recycling, fans wreak environmental havoc, reports Rolling Stone . The venues arena rockers need sit miles outside of city centers, forcing concertgoers to gas up and hit the road. And the fuel in all those waving lighters can't help, either. More »

Beatles Fight to Stop Historic Bootleg

(Newser) - The Beatles are fighting to stop the release of recordings made at a German club just before they became the world's most famous band, the Miami Herald reports. The 1962 gig is historic for music buffs because it's the first time Ringo Starr played live with the band. A Miami company and a British promoter hope to sell the "lost" recordings, including eight songs never released as a single or an album, but the group's lawyers are digging in. More »

'70s Rocker to Mike: Hands Off My Song, Dude

(Newser) - The founder of '70s rock band Boston is sick of Mike Huckabee using his hit song "More Than a Feeling" without permission, the AP reports. "By using my song, and my band's name Boston, you have taken something of mine and used it to promote ideas to which I am opposed," wrote Eric Scholz, an Obama supporter, to Huckabee. "In other words, I think I've been ripped off, dude!" More »

Rock Legends Party Like It's 1979 (With a 2007 Approach)

(Newser) - The Police. Genesis. Led Zeppelin. Rock legends are squeezing back into their familiar duds to electrify audiences decades after their heydays. The comebacks aren’t all about cash, the Economist proposes. Many of the greying rockers are in no need of funds "if they fancy a new castle or a young wife." It's as if a new careerism requires them to prove they can still fill a high-grossing stadium.  More »
