(Newser) - The sixth-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers, on the strength of a 67-59 upending of No. 3 Baylor, advanced to a regional semifinal in the women’s NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Shavonte Zellous, a former track sprinter, led the Panthers with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and grabbed an important rebound late in the game, according to the Associated Press. More »

Spartans punch ticket for Izzo's seventh Sweet 16

(Newser) - Drew Neitzel helped carry fifth-seeded Michigan State into the Sweet 16, keying the run that opened the game up for the Spartans, reports the Detroit News . Neitzel scored 21 points, including eight in a 2:10 seconds in the waning minutes, to lift Michigan State to a 65-54 win over Pittsburgh. (Newser) - Ronald Ramon and DeJuan Blair made sure Pittsburgh would not be denied another Big East championship yesterday, reports the  Associated Press. The Panthers had been to the title game seven times, with only one win, until upsetting No. 9 Georgetown, 74-65.
