      (Newser) - Many young children are not receiving enough vitamin D, putting them at risk of bone problems and immune-system trouble, ABC News reports. In a group of 380 kids ages 2 and younger, 12% were deficient in vitamin D and 40% had below-optimal levels.       Baby Products Expose Infants to Chemicals

      (Newser) - Common baby products may be exposing infants to dangerous chemicals called phthalates, a new study shows. The presence of the substances in infants' urine was linked with the use of baby lotions, powder, and shampoo. Experts don't know the long-term health consequences, but "there is a large body of animal studies to suggest developmental and reproductive toxicity" from phthalates, a doctor tells Reuters. More »

Johnson & Johnson Wyeth and Novartis are among those recalling medicines; CVS said it will remove the products and generic equivalents.
