The Bulldogs wowed voters with their 41-10 thumping of Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, after finishing the year with seven straight victories. The Buckeyes, meanwhile, disappointed in the championship game for the second straight year, but have 20 starters returning.

A Congressional resolution could have the Justice Department looking into whether the college football bowl system is illegal, the AP reports. The authors of the resolution say the system restricts trade because only the biggest schools seem to have a shot at being voted into the championship game. Ashley Houts scored her team's last eight points, all on free throws in the final 41 seconds, as eighth-seeded Georgia overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Iowa, 67-61, in the first round of the women's NCAA tournament. Third-seeded Xavier avoided the first major upset of the NCAA Tournament today when it came from behind to beat 14th-seeded Georgia 73-61, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer . The Musketeers (28-6) trailed by 11 points in the second half, but freshman Dante Jackson hit a 3-pointer with 7:23 left to put Xavier up for good.

Georgia completed one of the most incredible runs in the history of conference tournaments, defeating Arkansas, 66-57, for its third upset win in 30 hours and the SEC title. The Bulldogs also grabbed an automatic entry in the NCAA tournament, and likely kept one of the many bubble teams out of the field.
