(Newser) - Rookie Armando Galarraga won his second straight start, Edgar Renteria homered and the Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 Monday. Ivan Rodriguez had four hits and Renteria scored twice for the Tigers. Galarraga (2-0) has won back-to-back starts since being called up from Triple-A Toledo last week to replace Dontrelle Willis, sidelined by a hyperextended knee. More »

(Newser) - Edgar Renteria hit a two-run home run, Kenny Rogers won for the first time since July and Detroit beat the Blue Jays 8-4 on Friday, handing Toronto its sixth consecutive home defeat. Floyd carries no-hitter into eighth inning to raise his record to 2-0

(Newser) - Gavin Floyd nearly took his success against Detroit to a new level. Floyd held the Tigers hitless until Edgar Renteria singled with one out in the eighth inning today and pitched the Chicago White Sox to a 7-0 victory. Floyd (2-0) had never pitched more than seven innings in the majors. His no-hit bid ended when Renteria hit a liner that fell in front of right fielder Jermaine Dye. More »

Kansas City opens season 2-0 for the
2nd time in 28 years

(Newser) - Brian Bannister and the Kansas City Royals are off to a quick start. Bannister allowed two singles in seven innings, combining on a three-hitter Wednesday in a 4-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Kansas City is 2-0 for only the second time in 28 years.
