Barack Obama's new chief of staff Rahm Emanuel roasted faux newsman Stephen Colbert at a weekend charity function—but in a deft word twist managed to zing a number of politicians. Emanuel said he was "afraid of Colbert—the same way Sarah Palin is scared of a geography bee, and John Edwards is scared of the National Enquirer ."

Two journalists seriously injured in Iraq won Peabody Awards today for their stories on wounded veterans, the AP reports. Bob Woodruff of ABC and Kimberly Dozier of CBS each won for their profiles of soldiers returning home from Iraq. Woodruff suffered a brain injury in an IED attack in 2006, and Dozier sustained leg injuries in a car bomb attack the same year.

In recognition of the WGA strike, both shows included commentary on the work stoppage, reports the Chicago Tribune.
