Environmental groups fume over government's decision

(Newser) - Donald Trump got the green light for his $1.6 billion Aberdeenshire golf resort yesterday, much to the chagrin of environmental groups, the Times of London reports. Though it was rejected by the Aberdeenshire council last year, First Minister Alex Salmond approved the project after a public inquiry. Salmond said the development would create 6,000 jobs and bring $100 million into Aberdeenshire annually. More »

(AP) - It hasn't been all fun and games for Western vacationers on Dubai beaches, thanks to  decency police who have detained 79 people in recent days for topless sunbathing and nudity, AP reports. The Muslim city-state is attracting hordes of foreign sun seekers, who are being scrutinized by cops on the ground and in beach watchtowers. Death jeopardizes thawing relations

(Newser) - A North Korean soldier shot and killed a South Korean tourist when she wandered into a restricted area today, Reuters reports. The 53-year-old had been visiting the Mount Kumgang resort, just north of the border.
