(Newser) - An Indiana 16-year-old plotted a Columbine-style mass killing on September 11 and even sought the same pistol used in that attack, the AP reports. The high school student faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder when he appears in court today. Police found 100 knives in his home and say he discussed how to make explosives and obtain weapons online with an out-of-state friend. More »

(Newser) - Ryan Schallenberger, the South Carolina teenager whose Columbine-style attack police say they foiled yesterday, will be charged with a federal count of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, the AP reports. The charge, stemming from the 10 pounds of explosives discovered by Schallenberger’s parents yesterday, carries a possible life sentence. The 18-year-old also faces two lesser federal charges. (Newser) - South Carolina police have foiled a student's suicide bomb attack on a high school, timed to coincide with the ninth anniversary of the Columbine school massacre, officials said. (Newser) - The Finnish teenager who killed eight people and committed suicide last week chatted online with a Philadelphia area youth who plotted a Columbine-style assault at a suburban school. Dillon Cossey, 14, told his attorney that the Finnish youth "gave no indication he was going to do anything violent" and Cossey insisted he "offered nothing in the way of encouragement." More »

(Newser) - A Pennsylvania woman faces multiple criminal charges after buying guns and bomb-making materials for her emotionally disturbed 14-year old son. Michele Cossey is accused of purchasing a 9mm semiautomatic rifle, a .22 rifle and handgun, and black powder for use in making grenades, CNN reports. Her son, home-schooled after withdrawing in 2006, is being charged with solicitation to commit terror. More »

(Newser) - Police near Philadelphia raided the home of a 14-year-old boy and seized an arsenal of weapons—including an assault rifle and homemade grenades, along with 30 air-powered guns—the boy apparently wanted to use in a Columbine-style attack.  The home-schooled teen said he felt bullied and tried to recruit another boy to help him attack a nearby high school, the AP reported.  More »
