(Newser) - Jordan’s Queen Rania is taking on Arab stereotypes through a venue not particularly known for engendering serious discourse: YouTube. Obama Appears Cocky, Presidential

(Newser) - The better Barack Obama’s foreign excursion goes, the more nervous Republicans get,  Maureen Dowd writes in the New York Times. Images of John McCain happily sharing a golf cart with Bush 41 don’t contrast well with images of Obama happily sharing a helicopter with David Petraeus. But there is also an element of arrogance in the trip. More »

      Refugees: Iraq's Unspoken Crisis

Radical Steps Needed to Break Israel Impasse

(Newser) - The distance to a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians grows longer by the day, Thomas Friedman laments in the New York Times , and involving Jordan is the best bet. He calls for “radical pragmatism” as “energetic as the extremism that it hopes to nullify.” Giving Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas land and trusting an Arab neighbor to control it—that is, insure that it isn't used for rocket attacks on Israel—would solidify legitimacy.
