T.I. Will Get Jail Sentence in Weapons Rap

Community service first for rapper, who faces year behind bars

(Newser) - Rapper T.I.—aka Clifford Harris—pleaded guilty today in Atlanta to weapons charges, the AP reports. Harris will have to spend about a year in jail but must complete 1,500 hours of community service first; he also faces three years' house arrest and a $100,000 fine. Addressing youth groups on the dangers of guns, drugs, and gangs will be his first stop. More »

Gunman Shoots 8 at LA Bus Stop

5 kids hit as thug sprays crowd with semiautomatic

(Newser) - Five children and three adults were wounded yesterday when a gunman opened fire on a crowded South Los Angeles bus stop minutes after classes ended at a nearby middle school. The school was locked down as police hunted for the shooter, who fired some 15 rounds into the crowd with a semiautomatic gun. Investigators were still hunting for him last night.
