The massacre in Mumbai has left at least four Americans dead: A Brooklyn-raised rabbi and his wife, and a Virginia man and his teenage daughter. Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, 29, and Rivka Holtzberg, 28, were slain at a Jewish center they helped run. Family and friends in Brooklyn have one speck of good news: The couple's nanny managed to escape with their 2-year-old son, Moshe. “Today, he became an orphan,” a rabbi in Brooklyn told the New York Daily News .

A young Jewish couple from Brooklyn were taken hostage in the Mumbai attacks and many fear the worst, the New York Times reports . Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka, ran the well-known Chabad center, a popular haven for Jewish travellers. They were seized along with at least six others at the center, which was targeted by terrorists. A cook managed to escape with the pair's 2-year-old son, whose pants were soaked in blood.

A naked man fell to his death yesterday in Brooklyn after police fired a Taser at him, the New York Post reports. The man, 35-year-old Iman Morales, had been ranting on a second-story fire escape. Chronic deep vein thrombosis formed clots in her legs that eventually reached her lungs. The case has drawn international attention after security-camera footage showed the woman falling to the floor and convulsing, with no one checking on her for an hour. Recently uncovered surveillance footage shows a woman collapsing in a Brooklyn psychiatric hospital, then lying on the floor for more than an hour while hospital staff ignored her. Esmin Green, 49, had been waiting for treatment for almost 24 hours when she collapsed at 5:32am and lay convulsing on the floor. She stopped moving at 6:07am, and was found dead at 6:35.
