      (Newser) - Barack Obama appears set to sponsor a NASCAR racecar in the Aug. 3 Pocono event, the first presidential candidate to try such a stunt. Trying to sell a political left-hand turn on what’s traditionally Republican turf, the Democratic car will likely be part of a broader get-out-the-vote effort, Sports Illustrated reports.       Busch Nails a Win at Pocono

      (Newser) - Kurt Busch picked up a much-needed first place finish at Pocono on Sunday, his first win since March 26, 2006.  Busch dominated the race, leading for all but 25 laps.  The win moved him into the 12th and final spot in the Chase for the Nextel Cup rankings with just 5 races left before the championships begin. "I feel like a newborn," Busch told the AP. "I'm ready to run for the Chase." More »

      (Newser) - Nascar's Pocono 500 was called after 106 laps for rain with Jeff Gordon in the lead after a gutsy off-timed pitting on the 65th lap. The move gave him a jump in the short-term, but had there been no shortening of the race, it likely would have meant a loss for the hard-charging Gordon. More »
