      Cook and Rockies Beat Cubs 4-2

      (Newser) - Aaron Cook pitched eight strong innings and Brian Fuentes earned his first save in 10 months to help the Colorado Rockies end a four-game skid with a 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Cook (3-1) won his third straight start and halted the Cubs' six-game win streak. Chicago had won nine of its last 10 games. More »

      (Newser) - The last baseball Barry Bonds hit out of the park sold for $376,612 today, the winning bid coming from an anonymous buyer. There were a total of 13 bids on the baseball, caught by Jameson Sutton Sept. 5 at Coors Field in Colorado. Home run ball No. 762 is a bargain considering that SCP Auctions handled the sale of Bonds' record-breaking No. 756, which fetched $752,467. More »
