Shields (4-2) rebounded from the second-shortest outing of his career to post his second shutout in his past three starts. Santana pitched 6 1-3 innings, allowing three runs and six hits. Justin Speier escaped jams in the seventh and eighth innings, and Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 11 tries.
