Braun Hits Two HRs as Brewers Hang on

Ryan Braun hit a pair of solo home runs, Jeff Suppan pitched seven solid innings and the Milwaukee Brewers' new closer by committee held on for a 5-3 win over St. Louis. Suppan (2-2) gave up six hits and walked five, but struck out four to pick up the first win for a Milwaukee starter other than Ben Sheets since April 5. More »

      Berkman Leads Surging Astros

Lance Berkman hit his 18th homer at Great American Ball Park—the most by any visiting player—and drove in three runs Thursday, leading the Houston Astros to their fifth straight win, 5-3 over the Cincinnati Reds. Berkman had a two-run homer and a run-scoring double off rookie Johnny Cueto (1-2), whose 96 mph fastball wasn't enough to slow the Astros' surging offense or get the Reds out of their slump.  More »

Kapler Lifts Brewers Over Cards in Extras

Gabe Kapler singled home the winning run with one out in the 12th inning and the Milwaukee Brewers overcame another blown save by Eric Gagne, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 9-8 Tuesday. The Brewers wasted a five-run lead before Kapler's hit. The Cardinals' loss came with an oddity: Slugger Albert Pujols wound up playing second base for the first time in his big league career. Fielder's First Home Run Helps Brewers Over Cardinals 5-3

Prince Fielder hit his first home run of the season, a two-run drive off Brad Thompson in the 10th inning that gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Fielder, who led the NL with 50 homers last year, needed 54 at-bats to connect for the first time this year. He also tied the score with a bloop RBI double that capped a three-run, eighth-inning rally against Kyle Lohse and two relievers. More »
