      Runner-Up 'Idol' Snags Music Deal

      “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta has inked a deal with “Idol” creator Simon Fuller’s 19 Recordings/Jive Records, the AP reports. The 17-year-old lost to David Cook, 25, a former Missouri bartender, in an upset in last month's finale. Cook signed with the same label, MTV reports; the two albums should both drop in time for the holiday season, with the first official singles out in the fall. More »

      Newest 'Idol': David Cook

      The newest "American Idol" is David Cook. The 25-year-old defeated David Archuleta, 17, in the season finale, the New York Post reports. The two received a record 97.5 million votes from viewers, eclipsing the previous mark by 23 million votes. Cook got 56% of the vote. The victory is a bit of a surprise because the judges swooned over Archuleta in Tuesday night's show. Simon Cowell called his performance that night a "knockout." More »
