Pakistan's Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombings at the gates of the country's main weapons complex, and warned of more to come if the government fails to cease operations against militants in the country's tribal areas.       (AP) - A suicide car bomber struck a police academy in Algeria today, killing at least 43 people and injuring 38, says the country’s Interior Ministry.  The toll was a "preliminary estimate" for the attack in Boumerdes, some 35 miles east of Algiers. The attack occurred as young applicants were in line to register at the academy. No group has claimed responsibility, but the north African nation has suffered regular attacks blamed on al-Qaeda.       Iraqi Suicide Blasts Kill 50

      (Newser) - Suicide attacks in Iraq today killed at least 50 people and injured about 250, making it one of deadliest days in the country in months, Reuters reports. In Baghdad, three female suicide bombers blew themselves up during a religious pilgrimage, killing 28 and injuring 92. In the northern city of Kirkuk, a bomber killed 22 and wounded 150 at a demonstration against elections law. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but al-Qaeda is suspected.  More »
