US to Press N. Korea on Nukes: Bush

(Newser) - President Bush challenged rumors today that Washington will go easy on North Korea's nuclear program, the AP reports. Iran Sanctions Might Not be Working: GAO

(Newser) - Sanctioning Iran may not have actually worked, the Government Accountability Office said yesterday, just as the US pushes for a fresh round of UN sanctions. Restrictions on state-owned banks are easy to circumvent, the report notes, and Iran has signed $20 billion in energy contracts since 2003. The “evidence raises questions about the extent of reported economic impacts,” the report concludes. More »

With New US Sanctions, Iran Looks East

(Newser) - As Iran is increasingly squeezed by new US sanctions and pressure from the UN, the country looks east for new economic alliances. China is about to overtake Germany as Iran's largest trading partner, and with oil prices skyrocketing, it looks as though Iran will be able to weather the storm of American sanctions, the Washington Post reports. Iran Looms Large in Campaign

(Newser) - Iran is beginning to dominate the campaign rhetoric of White house hopefuls of both parties as Iraq once did, reports CNN.
