      Potter Flick Pushed to Summer

(Newser) - Harry Potter won't be working movie magic in November. In a surprise move, Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July of 2009, MTV reports. The studio says the move isn't because of any problems with the film. It simply needs a summer blockbuster for next year, and the writers' strike put a crimp in other scripts. More »

Woody Allen Refuses to Quit: Blame Europe

(Newser) - America may have spawned Woody Allen, but “the perpetuation of Allen's zombie-like career is one atrocity for which we refuse to be held accountable,” Joe Queenan argues in the Guardian . The diminutive director’s recent films have bombed stateside; when eight people showed up for a New York screening of Hollywood Ending , Queenan writes, it signaled that “Allen was finished as a driving force in US cinema.” More »
