Felix Pie's two-run single in the 15th inning allowed the Chicago Cubs to outlast the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 in a wild game Wednesday night. Pie's hit to left off of Phil Dumatrait (0-1) with the bases loaded scored Ryan Theriot and Alfonso Soriano, helping the Cubs win their fourth in a row. Twice the Pirates tied the Cubs with home runs to extend the game.

Eric Byrnes hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh-inning off Hiroki Kuroda, and the Arizona Diamondbacks stretched their winning streak to six with a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Micah Owings (2-0) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings as the Diamondbacks finished a three-game sweep of their NL West rival.

Bengie Molina hit his second homer of the game with one out in the 11th inning off Cla Meredith, giving the San Francisco Giants a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. Brad Hennessey (1-0) threw two shutout innings as the Giants snapped a four-game skid. Brian Giles had four hits and drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth for the Padres.

Doug Davis, pitching two days before his scheduled surgery for thyroid cancer, allowed two runs in six innings, and the Arizona Diamondbacks went on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5 Tuesday night for their fifth consecutive victory. Davis blanked the Dodgers through five innings before Jeff Kent doubled in two runs in the sixth.

Carlos Delgado and the New York Mets botched the final home opener at Shea Stadium the same way they squandered a big lead in the NL East last year. April or September, doesn't seem to matter. The Mets can't find a way to hold off Philadelphia. Jamie Moyer pitched six effective innings, Jayson Werth hit a tiebreaking single and the Phillies rallied past New York 5-2 Tuesday with the help of Delgado's key error in the seventh.

Pat Burrell hit two of Philadelphia's four homers off Bronson Arroyo, a power splurge that swept Philadelphia to a 5-3 victory Monday and a split of their four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds. Jimmy Rollins and Geoff Jenkins also homered off Arroyo (0-1), who had never before given up more than three in a game.

The Arizona Diamondbacks spoiled the unveiling of the Colorado's National League championship banner by beating the Rockies 7-2 last night. Chris Young hit two homers and Brandon Webb (2-0) allowed only one earned run and five hits over seven innings for the Diamondbacks. Justin Upton had a solo homer in the second inning, his third of the season, and two singles.

Mike Jacobs hit his first career grand slam to lead the Florida Marlins to a 7-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates last night. Jacobs' 417-foot blast to right-center off starter Paul Maholm gave the Marlins a 5-1 lead in the fifth. Jacobs' walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth beat the Pirates on Friday. Hanley Ramirez also homered for the Marlins.

Kelly Johnson's pinch-hit grand slam broke open a close game and the Atlanta Braves overcame a rare call reversal and beat the New York Mets 11-5 today. Johnson, the Braves regular 2B, didn't start for the third straight game due to his sore right knee. With two outs in the seventh and the Braves leading 5-3, Johnson took Jorge Sosa deep for his second career grand slam.

The Colorado Rockies celebrated their NL championship Friday with a pregame jubilee filled with fireworks, fly-bys and flashbacks, then played nothing like the charmed team that won its first pennant six months ago. Arizona right-hander Micah Owings (1-0) struck out a career-best nine batters and allowed just one run and two hits over 6 2-3 splendid innings in the Diamondbacks' 8-1 win over struggling Colorado.

Jesus Colome walked Jayson Werth to force in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Philadelphia Phillies an 8-7 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday. The defending NL East champions overcame a 5-0, first-inning deficit to avoid opening the season with a three-game sweep at home for the third straight year.
