      Harrington Wins 2nd Straight Brit Open

      (Newser) - Padraig Harrington won his second British Open in a row today, beating out Ian Poulter by four strokes to shoot a final round of 1-under 69 for a three-over total of 283. Greg Norman—the 53-year old Aussie poised to become the oldest major champion in the history of golf—started the windy day at Royal Birkdale with a 2-stroke lead, but ended up tied for third after a series of early bogeys.       Choi Grabs British Lead

      (AP) - Greg Norman's lead didn't hold up in today's second round of the British Open, with KJ Choi shooting a 3-under-par 67 to snatch the top spot heading into the weekend at Royal Birkdale. The South Korean, at 1-under 139, is the only player in the field under par. Three weeks after marrying tennis great Chris Evert, Norman kept up the honeymoon with his second consecutive par 70, leaving him one stroke off Choi's lead. More »

      (Newser) - Ireland's Padraig Harrington became the first European to win the British Open since 1999 today, shooting a 4-under 67 in the final round to force a four-hole playoff with Spain's Sergio Garcia. In one of the tightest finishes the unforgiving Carnoustie Links has ever seen, Harrington hit twice into the Barry Burn on 18 to blow a one-stroke lead over Garcia. More »
