Kyle Lohse allowed four hits in seven innings, Rick Ankiel homered and St. Louis completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals with a 3-0 victory Sunday. Carpenter to Have Tommy John Surgery

Cardinal ace expected to miss remainder of 2007, part of 2008

(Newser) - Cardinals right-hander Chris Carpenter, the 2005 Cy Young winner, will undergo Tommy John surgery next week and miss the rest of this season and part of next, the team said yesterday. The 2006 World Series star and Opening Day starter hit the DL on April 2 and hasn't started in the majors since. More »
