      (Newser) - Brandon Webb outpitched Jake Peavy in a battle of the last two NL Cy Young Award winners, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday.       (Newser) - San Diego Padres all-star pitcher Jake Peavy bagged the National League Cy Young Award today, after unanimously receiving all 32 first place votes and racking up 160 points, 66 more than the runner-up. Peavy led the league this year with 240 strikeouts, 19 wins, and finished the season with an impressive 2.54 ERA, the Associated Press writes. More »

      (Newser) - Leviathan Cleveland ace C.C. Sabathia won the 2007 A.L. Cy Young Award, edging out 20-game winner Josh Beckett of Boston, to whom he lost twice in the playoffs. Sabathia led the majors in innings pitched with 241, and became the first African-American pitcher to win the award since Dwight Gooden in 1985.
