Six run seventh ruins strong outing by Arizona rookie

Lilly gave up another homer to Chris Young, but instead of throwing a tantrum the left-hander led the Chicago Cubs over Arizona 3-1 today in the first meeting between the teams since the Diamondbacks' sweep in last year's playoffs. Young homered off Lilly in Game 2 last October during Arizona's 8-4 win, prompting Lilly to slam his glove down. More »

(Newser) - Ted Lilly worked seven solid innings, recorded his 1,000th strikeout and added his second career extra-base hit, leading the Chicago Cubs to a 9-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals today.
