Columbus goalie Pascal Leclaire stopped 33 shots through regulation and overtime but it wasn’t enough, as Niklas Hagman’s backhander in the fifth round of the shootout beat him to give the Dallas Stars a 2-1 victory. It was Hagman’s fifth game-winning goal on the season. The loss was the Blue Jackets fifth in six shootouts this season, reports the AP.

After a 15-2 start to the season, Ottawa has dropped five straight with last night's 6-5 loss to Nashville. Sloppy play saw the Senators waste the momentum of captain Daniel Alfredsson's tying goal, scored with less than a minute left in regulation, just 23 seconds after it crossed the goal line. Tomas Holmstrom scored his NHL-leading ninth power-play goal, and Pavel Datsyuk scored two goals of his own to push Detroit past Calgary 5-3, the AP reports. Kris Draper and Valtteri Filppula also scored for the Red Wings, and Holmstrom and Datsyuk each had an assist.
