The Boston Bruins saw their four-game win streak broken in dramatic fashion last night as the Montreal Canadiens sent six goals past Manny Fernandez. After a 5-2-0 start, the Bruins came "back to earth very quick," coach Claude Julien told the Boston Herald. "We kind of lost our composure.”

The PIttsburgh Penguins skated back from deficits of 1-0 and 3-1 to force overtime in last night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, then went three-for-three to win the shootout and the game. Backup goalie Dany Sabourin blocked 29 shots, most critically the glove save that stopped the Hurricanes from tying the shootout, reports the Post-Gazette.

Smith needed to be on form because his team hasn't been covering the net, according to coach Dave Tippett. The Wild, undefeated and hot off a big win against Anaheim, fell hard against the struggling Kings last night. The Wild's uncharacteristically undisciplined play handed the Kings eight power plays. The Kings then chalked up shootout goals from all three shooters to take the game 4-3, saving them from dropping six straight.

Last season the Flyers finished last in their division; the Thrashers first. But you wouldn't have known it at last night's game when Philly dominated Atlanta on the way to a 4-0 victory. The win left the Flyers at 4-1-0 and the Thrashers reeling at 0-6.

The Ottawa Senators banked on a rookie goalie to protect their win streak from the struggling Atlanta Thrashers last night, and rightly so, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Brian Elliot, playing in his first NHL game, blocked 28 shots as the Senators improved to 5-0 this season—or 12-0, including preseason games.
