So much for home-ice advantage for New Jersey. With tonight's 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers, the Devils were knocked out of the first round of the NHL's Eastern Conference quarterfinals in the fifth game of the best-of-seven series, bowing to a team that has dominated them the entire season by now winning 11 of 13.

Marc Staal pushed the New York Rangers within a win of the second round. No tricks or funky screens were needed to beat Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on this night. Staal scored his first NHL playoff goal with 3:13 left in Game 4, and the Rangers earned a 5-3 victory and 3-1 series lead in the series over New Jersey.

John Madden scored 6:01 into overtime to get New Jersey back into its first-round series against the New York Rangers with a 4-3 victory Sunday night. The Devils beat the Rangers for just the second time in 11 games this season, and will look to even the series in Game 4 on Wednesday. Martin Brodeur got his 95th career playoff win.

Henrik Lundqvist and another flukey goal have the New York Rangers halfway to the second round after beating longtime rival New Jersey, 2-1, on Friday. Jaromir Jagr and Sean Avery scored 23 seconds apart early in the third period and Lundqvist made 26 saves in beating the Devils yet again for a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

It looked as though New Jersey was going to skate away with a rare victory against the Rangers tonight, but Christian Backman changed all that with a game-tying goal in the 3rd period. New York went on to win, 3-2, securing their seventh straight win over the Devils this season. Nigel Dawes produced the game winner for the Rangers.
