      Cops Raid Evangelist Complex in Kid Abuse Probe

      (Newser) - Police raided an evangelist’s compound in Arkansas seeking evidence into allegations that he physically and sexually abused children, CNN reports. Some 100 agents took part in the raid on the 15-acre grounds in Fouke near Texarkana. Authorities were interviewing several children throughout the weekend. Evangelist leader Tony Alamo ripped the accusations as "a hoax," and claimed he was being subjected to the same religious prosecution as Christ. More »

      (Newser) - Immigration agents raided a poultry-packing plant in Fairfield, Ohio, and arrested some 160 undocumented workers yesterday. The raid was part of a 2-year investigation into Koch Foods, which officials call an "egregious violator" of immigration laws, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.       (Newser) - Rep. William Jefferson scored a legal victory today, winning the return of privileged materials from a FBI raid on his office. An appeals court said the raid itself was not unconstitutional, but the search of legislative materials was illegal.
