Trevor Immelman, winner of just one prior PGA tour, became the second straight upstart to claim the Masters at the Augusta National club, after Zach Johnson won it in 2007—an odds-defying trend in the relatively staid world of golf championships. ESPN golf columnist Bob Harig notes that Immelman led all four days—the first such run in 28 years.

Lorena Ochoa wasn't distracted when the fans chanted her name on only the second hole of the Corona Championship. But by her last stroke on the 18th hole Sunday, the emotions were too much. Trevor Immelman has never felt better. Four months after he had a tumor removed from his back, Immelman handled the wind and pressure of Augusta National far better than anyone chasing him Sunday to win the Masters, the first South African in a green jacket in 30 years. Immelman held it together around Amen Corner and stretched his lead to as many as six shots on the back nine, taking the life out of a Masters that began with so much hype.

As Tiger Woods finds himself six strokes back going into today's concluding round of the Augusta Masters tournament, ESPN takes a look at the unlikely foursome at the top of the leaderboard. An 85-year-old legally blind golfer from southern Arizona made a hole-in-one this week on a par-3 course. Robert Dunham accomplished the feat on the third hole at Tortuga in Green Valley. Playing with a group of fellow blind veterans enrolled in a Veterans Affairs health care system program, Dunham's volunteer assistant lined him up with the ball, handed him a 9-iron and stepped back.

Trevor Immelman watched one last shot turn out better than he expected today in the Masters, keeping him atop the leaderboard and Tiger Woods farther behind. Immelman was headed for at least double bogey on the 15th until his ball stopped on a steep slope toward the pond, allowing him to escape with par, a two-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker and keeping him six shots ahead of Woods.

Trevor Immelman, who only four months ago was in a hospital in South Africa to recover from a benign tumor that doctors removed from his diaphragm, shot a second consecutive 4-under 68 to build a one-shot lead over Snedeker after two rounds of the Masters. Tiger Woods, at 1-under, needs a huge comeback to start a Grand Slam for 2008.

Ian Poulter's hole in one in yesterday's opening round was impressive, but that doesn't bring him to the level of golf's unassailable leader. Tiger Woods, though he's sitting four shots back of the leaders after the first day of the Augusta Masters, is still unquestionably the world's best golfer. The New York Times wonders who his successor might eventually be.

The outcome of the Masters is all too obvious, an anonymous pro writes for Golf.com. He expects Tiger Woods to win in one of his best performances yet, fulfilling the four-time Masters champion's promises that he is still improving his game. Though Tiger is making most of the tournament fields he has faced this year look like flailing children, some of the others might have a chance.

The 2007 Masters did more than propel champion Zach Johnson to the center of the golfing universe, it also revitalized a small putter company. The SeeMore Putter Co. first rose to prominence when the late Payne Stewart used their club to win the 1999 U.S. Open but after Stewart died sales sputtered—until Johnson won the green jacket, reports the Associated Press.
