(Newser) - Poisonous cane toads are proving more than a match for Australia's freshwater crocodiles, AFP reports. The toads are hopping their way into the crocs' northern Australia territory in huge numbers, killing off all who opt to make a meal of the invaders. (Newser) - A 7-year-old boy snuck into an Australian zoo on Wednesday and killed 13 animals, the BBC reports. The child jumped a fence and evaded security cameras to gain access to the Alice Springs Reptile Center, where he bashed three lizards with rocks and fed 10 other animals, some of them rare specimens, to the zoo's crocodile. (Newser) - When an 8-foot-long croc grabbed his wife and pulled her into the water, an Australian man says he did what anyone would—jump on the beast's back and poke it in the eyes until it let go. The pair made it to shore safely, reports the AP, although the woman suffered puncture wounds from the croc's teeth. More »

Dwarf caiman will chomp fingers, but not organs, says director

(Newser) - A thief has managed to walk out of a Norwegian aquarium with a croc stuffed in a bag, Reuters reports. The 2.3-foot long Schneider's dwarf caiman named "Taggen" was spirited away sometime over the weekend while the aquarium was busy. Police are investigating, and a $5,000 reward is being offered for help finding the animal. More »

(Newser) - An Australian farmer spent a week in a tree, out of reach of  stalking crocodiles and surviving on two sandwiches and some fresh water, reports the BBC. He fell from his horse while riding in the northern outback and found himself in high swamp grass criss-crossed with "monstrous" croc tracks in the middle of  a nest. More »
