Even with the Lakers and Celtics matchup over, all is not quiet on the NBA rivalry front. Shaquille O'Neal took the mic at a New York club to perform a freestyle rap suggesting that Kobe Bryant couldn't win a championship without his former teammate: "You know how I be. Last week Kobe couldn't do without me." Shaq says his (mostly unprintable) two-minute verse "was all done in fun," reports the Los Angeles Times.

Phoenix wants to keep coach with team

The Phoenix Suns granted permission for coach Mike D'Antoni to talk to other teams, with the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks apparently the leading suitors. General manager Steve Kerr confirmed Monday that D'Antoni can speak with other NBA teams about coaching vacancies but indicated he still wants to persuade the coach to stay with the Suns.

Boris Diaw had 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in one of the best playoff performances of his career, and the Phoenix Suns stayed alive with a 105-86 rout of San Antonio on Sunday. Diaw, starting in place of injured Grant Hill, also led the Suns' vastly improved defense, guarding the Spurs’ Tony Parker much of the game.

The San Antonio-Phoenix series was supposed to be a spectacular first-round matchup of potential NBA champions. Instead, it's become a Spurs smackdown. Tony Parker had a career-high 41 points along with 12 assists and San Antonio routed the Suns 115-99 on Friday night to take a 3-0 series lead. It's the first three-game losing streak for the Suns this season.
