Philadelphia advances with win over Canadiens

(Newser) - Scott Upshall scored with 3:04 remaining in the third period and the Philadelphia Flyers advanced to the Eastern Conference final with a 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens last night. Upshall deflected Jeff Carter's shot past Carey Price to give Philadelphia its second and final lead of the game as the Flyers won the conference semifinal in five games. More »

as Flyers Win

Biron makes 34 saves as Philly evens series with Habs

(Newser) - R.J. Umberger scored twice, Martin Biron made 34 saves and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 tonight to even the second-round series at a game apiece. Jeff Carter and Daniel Briere also scored to help the Flyers rebound after they blew 2-0 and 3-2 leads Thursday night a 4-3 overtime loss. Saku Koivu scored his first goal of the playoffs for Montreal. Carey Price made 19 saves. More »

(Newser) - Carey Price got his second shutout and Andrei Kostitsyn scored twice to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-0 win over the Boston Bruins in the deciding game of their first-round playoff series. Price stopped 25 shots overall, including 11 shots in the opening period. He got his first playoff shutout in a 1-0 win in Game 4. More »

(Newser) - The Boston Bruins were left for dead earlier this week, but now have a chance to eliminate the top-seeded Montreal Canadiens Monday, reports the Associated Press. The Bruins, who trailed 3-1 in the series, stayed alive last night when Marco Sturm scored with 2:37 left for a 5-4 win to force a Game 7. (Newser) - The Boston Bruins worked hard to get a break and Carey Price gave a big one right to them. Glen Metropolit scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period after Price caused a reckless turnover and Boston went on to beat the Canadiens 5-1 tonight to avoid elimination in their first-round series. (Newser) - Alex Kovalev scored a power-play goal 2:30 into overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins tonight and a 2-0 lead in their first-round series. Kovalev drove a slap shot past Tim Thomas from the left side as Montreal took advantage of consecutive penalties to Boston's Shawn Thornton and Jeremy Reich. Game 3 is tomorrow night in Boston.
