Pirates rally to snap Atlanta's six-game win streak

(Newser) - Freddy Sanchez singled home Brian Bixler with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves tonight. Bay equalizes, LaRoche smacks go-ahead single in 5-4 win

(Newser) - Adam LaRoche hit a go-ahead single in a three-run seventh inning, and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied to beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 for a three-game sweep. Pittsburgh has won 13 of its last 15 games against San Francisco and swept three-game series from the Giants in three straight seasons, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. More »

(Newser) - Jason Marquis pitched six solid innings for his first victory of the season, Derrek Lee and Daryle Ward homered and the Chicago Cubs beat Pittsburgh 13-1 today for their eighth straight win over the Pirates. The Cubs are 5-0 against Pittsburgh this season. Marquis (1-0) won for the first time since Sept. 16, allowing a run and six hits while striking out seven. He also had an RBI double. More »
