NBA Playoffs 2007

In an uncompetitive East, the Cavs emerged to be trampled by the crafty veteran Spurs, whose methodical, plodding style proved superior in the crucible of the West

The 2006-2007 NBA Basketball playoffs will be remembered for several marquee upsets in the first round. The Chicago Bulls became the first team in 50 years to defeat the defending world champions in a 4-game sweep in the first round. The Dallas Mavericks, boasting the league's best record, didn't fare much better, beaten by the eight-seed Golden State Warriors in the opening round out West. With top-seed Dallas out of the way, the Spurs rolled through their competition, meeting their toughest challenge in the fast-paced Suns, who took them to 6 games. In the East, the Cavs rose from a weak field to be swept by San Antonio in LeBron's playoff debut.

The New Breed of Subtle Superstar

(Newser) - LeBron James, the Cavaliers' mediagenic leader and swingman, lived up to all the hype he's generated in leading Cleveland to the NBA finals for the first time in their 37 years. But  it has become clear that he is a different breed than scorers like Michael Jordan or his would-be clones. James' more subtle focus is on becoming the ultimate team component. More »
