Chrysler has been hit hard by higher fuel prices and a move in consumer demand away from sports utility vehicles and trucks to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. The newly private company is planning to improve the content and lower the price on 12 of its vehicles as part of a new marketing campaign.

      US pickup truck sales tumbled in March, hitting their lowest level in nearly a decade.       Chrysler LLC is beginning to see the results of its efforts to improve vehicle interiors, which have been widely criticized in recent years. The interior of the new 2009 Dodge Ram is the first vehicle to benefit from a stepped-up effort by Chrysler to improve quality in that part of the vehicle through Chrysler's Advanced Interior Design Studio, which was formed 18 months ago.
