Richardson 2008

His jam-packed resume wasn't enough to help this New Mexican Democrat crack the top tier in the race for president.

Bill Richardson has served as a congressman, UN Ambassador, Secretary of Energy, and currently, as Governor of New Mexico. He's stood toe-to-toe with two-thirds of the Axis of Evil - North Korea's Kim Jong-Il, Iraq's Saddam Hussein, plus its honorary member Fidel Castro - and has successfully negotiated concessions from each of them. Yet Richardson comes from one of the least populous, most diverse, and least wealthy of all states. Ultimately, he was unable to keep up with the high-fliers raising $25 mil-a-quarter for their Pennsylvania Avenue bids.
