(Newser) - Olympic Gold Medalist Marion Jones has admitted using steroids in preparation for the 2000 Sydney games. The track star will plead guilty on Friday to lying to federal agents regarding her drug use, the Washington Post reports. (Newser) - Mike Nifong, the disgraced district attorney in the Duke rape case, will spend a night in jail for contempt of court, a Durham, NC, judge ruled yesterday. The judge concluded that Nifong, who has already been disbarred, "willfully" withheld DNA evidence that exonerated three lacrosse players accused of raping a stripper after a team party. More »

(Newser) - The Justice Department will investigate whether Alberto Gonzales gave misleading testimony to Congress, including whether he lied about the NSA's warrantless wiretapping program and the US attorney firings. (Newser) - Disgraced Senator Larry Craig can be heard on audiotape arguing vehemently with a police officer about what happened in an airport men's room after he allegedly solicited sex from the undercover cop. The arresting officer can also be heard accusing Craig of lying on the tape, which was released by Minneapolis Airport police, AP reports. More »

(Newser) - Pressure mounted on Alberto Gonzales yesterday as FBI director Robert Mueller directly contradicted the attorney general in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. Mueller and Gonzales gave dramatically different accounts about  whether the Justice department's secret eavesdropping program was the subject of the now-legendary nighttime confrontation at the hospital bedside of then-Attorney General John Ashcroft. In fact, the group isn't affiliated with Obama, the San Francisco Chronicle reports, and most of the dough has gone to founder Emmett Cash.
