Michael's Golds

Thirty-six years after Mark Spitz set seven world records and won seven Olympic golds, Michael Phelps set out to one-up him.

Michael Phelps has gathered plenty of distinctions in his short life, Olympic medals and world records chiefly among them. Before heading to Beijing, he set his sights on an unprecedented eight gold medals in eight swimming events.
