  (Newser) - After 12 years as co-host of Hannity & Colmes, the liberal half of the Fox News standby, Alan Colmes, will leave the show at the end of the year. He's working on a weekend show for the network, which will keep him on as a commentator, Broadcasting & Cable reports. If he does—the policy calls for broadcasters to air opposing viewpoints—it could be big trouble for Rush Limbaugh and another denizens of the right-wing talk circuit.   ‘Liberal’ Greta Van Susteren continues the twisted saga of Fox News’ coverage of the ruckus stirred up by former McCain staffers pointing their fingers of blame at Sarah Palin. Recall it was Fox News’ own Carl Cameron who broke the story exposing all the petty Palin-bashing smears like she is so ignorant she didn’t realize Africa was a continent. So it was quite amazing to watch Greta carrying the baton in the pro-Palin Fox News relay by blaming the “mainstream media” for carrying these scandalous stories to make her look bad.

  For reporting that is an embarrassment to the profession of journalism, and for being beholden to corporate paymasters rather than the citizens of America. John Edwards spoke of the Two Americas, displaying the contrast between the haves and the have-nots. President-elect Barack Obama said we are not red and blue states, we are the United States of America. Then we have Hannity's America. Unlike the first two examples, an inclusive portrayal of different segments of one country, Hannity's America is a very limited concept, a bubble where deep thought, common sense, understanding, and tolerance...
