A .45 caliber handgun, which could be the murder weapon used to kill Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew, has been found by police, reports the Chicago Tribune. The gun was discovered in an alley close to the spot where the body of 7-year-old Julian King was discovered in the back of a Chevy Suburban.

If William Balfour killed Jennifer Hudson’s family as police suspect, he probably had help, law-enforcement sources tell the Chicago Tribune. Witnesses place Balfour on the Hudsons’ block at 7am, driving his teal Chrysler. But the car later turned up a mile away at Robeson High School. Security cameras show an unidentified person leaving the car at 12:30. But Balfour was on the West Side at that time, according to his girlfriend and cell phone records.

The convicted felon suspected in the slayings of Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother, and nephew was arrested with crack cocaine in his car in June, but authorities declined to return him to prison on a parole violation. A judge dismissed the charge for lack of probable cause in July, but under the strict rules of the state's parole program, William Balfour could have gone back to prison just for the arrest.

The estranged husband of Julia Hudson, Jennifer’s sister, is the top suspect in the murder of their three relatives—and police say disputes between the couple may have motivated the crimes, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Hudsons’ mother had thrown William Balfour, 27, out of her house in the past; he had threatened Julia and the family. He and Julia had had a spat over late payments on his car the day of the killings, the Tribune reports, which caused her wages to be garnished.

Jennifer Hudson again found herself tasked with the unthinkable in Chicago's morgue yesterday, looking up at a video screen depicting the body of her 7-year-old nephew Julian King in the next room, the Chicago Tribune reports. "Yes, that's him," the actress said of the missing boy cops found slumped in the backseat of an SUV, with a gunshot to the head. Police are questioning Julian's mother's estranged husband, but he's not been charged.

The body of a boy found in an SUV today is that of Julian King, police tell the Chicago Tribune . Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew was shot multiple times, probably inside the vehicle, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Police are still holding King's stepfather, William Balfour, who is considered the prime suspect in the killing. He has already lied once under questioning, and his girlfriend has contradicted his alibi.

Police think they’ve found the body of Jennifer Hudson’s nephew, Julian King, CNN reports, after Chicago authorities responded to “a call about a suspicious auto.” Though the body they found within has yet to be formally identified, the plates on the car match those in King’s Amber Alert, and the body is “believed to be” that of the 7-year-old, an FBI official said.

Police searching for Jennifer Hudson's missing 7-year-old nephew said this morning they've found the body of a young black boy in a sports utility vehicle. There is no confirmation on the identity of the body. A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office says it has sent investigators to the scene.

Jennifer Hudson offered a $100,000 reward today for the safe return of her missing nephew, the Chicago Tribune reports. Seven-year-old Julian King has been gone since the shooting deaths of Hudson's mother and brother in Chicago on Friday. Also today, Hudson's family received public support from Barack Obama, who said he is praying for her and looking for her phone number, Us Weekly reports.

The 7-year-old nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was still missing today, one day after the shooting deaths of Hudson's mother and brother in their Chicago home. A suspect in the deaths remained in custody, but young Julian King had not been seen since the bodies of Darnell Donerson, 57, and Jason Hudson, 29, were found Friday afternoon. Jennifer Hudson's personal publicist said the family wanted privacy.

Chicago police took a man into custody today in the shooting deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. No charges have been filed against William Balfour, 27, who was involved with a member of the Hudson family and had lived with Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson. Balfour was paroled 2 years ago after committing attempted murder and other crimes.
