Wayne Huizenga found a nice way to transition into his golden years, announcing he sold a 50% stake in the Miami Dolphins, their stadium, and surrounding land for $550 million. Buyer Stephen Ross, a billionaire real estate developer and South Florida native, will eventually assume majority ownership, reports the Miami Herald . He called it "a dream of a lifetime."

A former St. Louis Rams player and some fans are trying to make Spygate very costly for the New England Patriots, reports the Boston Herald . A lawsuit was filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in New Orleans seeking $100 million from the Patriots for taping the Rams last walk-through practice before the 2002 Super Bowl. The Patriots upset the Rams 20-17.

The New York Jets were just the tip of the iceberg as far as spying goes for New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. Senator Arlen Specter said yesterday that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told him Belichick has been illegally taping opponents defensive signals since 2000, reports the Associated Press. Most of the tapes and other evidence has already been destroyed, however.

Two weeks ago, Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder shocked the NFL by hiring Jim Zorn as offensive coordinator before he had hired a head coach. Today, Snyder topped that by making Zorn his head coach, reports the Washington Post . "I've always dreamed of being a head coach with a franchise rich in tradition like the Redskins," Zorn, 54, said.

The Washington Redskins loss is the New York Giants gain. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo took himself out of the running for the Redskins coaching job and instead accepted a three-year contract from the Giants yesterday, reports for New York Times. The contract, which pays $2 million a season, makes Spagnuolo one of the highest paid defensive coordinators in the NFL.

The Super Bowl champion New York Giants received a New York welcome at today's victory parade. Hundreds of thousands of fans and 50 tons of confetti filled the streets of Lower Manhattan. Players waved atop floats, many catching the action on camcorders as fans bellowed their support, and Michael Strahan showed off the Vince Lombardi trophy, the New York Post reports.
