      (Newser) - Christmas has come early for recessionistas: Jimmy Choo is teaming up with the budget-conscious retail chain H&M, the AP reports. The shoemaker, adored by Sex and the City ’s Carrie, will also include bags, accessories, and clothing in its collection, to launch Nov. 14. “We adore Jimmy Choo’s shoes and bags,” said an H&M exec. The store has also collaborated with designers including Stella McCartney and Roberto Cavalli. More »

      (Newser) - The recession is taking a toll on demand for haute couture, but African designers are betting the youthfulness of their industry will trump the economy at the first pan-African fashion week. “We’re growing,” says a designer from Sierra Leone who trained in New York and Paris.       (Newser) - Designers have lashed back at a Vogue editor who accuses them of forcing ultra-thin models on magazine covers by sending "minuscule" photo-shoot clothes no normal woman can wear. British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman complained in a letter to top designers that the clothing is so tiny magazines are forced to use excessively skinny models with "jutting bones" and "no breasts or hips."       (AP) - American Apparel has agreed to settle Woody Allen’s lawsuit for $5 million, a spokeswoman for the filmmaker said. Allen appeared today at a Manhattan courthouse, where he had sued the Los Angeles-based clothing manufacturer over its advertising last year for $10 million.
