  (Newser) - Tadahito Iguchi hit a home run off Yusmeiro Petit with one out in the 13th inning to lift the San Diego Padres to an 8-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks last night and snap a five-game skid. San Diego went extra innings for the third time in five home games, including a 22-inning loss to Colorado on April 17 that lasted 6 hours, 16 minutes. This one went 4:02. More »

Rich Aurilia homered off Chris Young in the seventh inning to keep Tim Lincecum perfect this season and give San Francisco a 1-0 win last night in another low-scoring game at Petco Park.   (Newser) - Trevor Hoffman blew another save and the San Francisco Giants went on to beat the slumping San Diego Padres 3-2 in 13 innings last night. Rookie Emmanuel Burriss doubled leading off the 13th and scored the go-ahead run for the Giants.   (Newser) - San Diego Padres all-star pitcher Jake Peavy bagged the National League Cy Young Award today, after unanimously receiving all 32 first place votes and racking up 160 points, 66 more than the runner-up. Cameron tested positive twice for a stimulant banned by MLB, although he denies actual abuse, chalking the test results up to a tainted nutritional supplement.
